Under the watchful eye of acclaimed Michelin-starred chef Richard Ekkebus, we use only the freshest ingredients and employ exceptional kitchen craftsmanship to offer a dining experience that’s truly exceptional.

Located on the lobby level of the Executive Apartments, the restaurant can also be accessed directly from the street. Offering inside and alfresco dining, the decor of Fifty 8° Grill reflects elements of Shanghai’s Art Deco era with a geometric patterned floor, elegant light fittings and a striking steel bar.

A taste of France in China

Fifty 8º Grill features a ‘craft above creation’ approach to cooking, by which exceptional ingredients and traditional recipes presented with a contemporary twist take centre stage. In addition, we offer a wide selection of fresh meats cooked over a wood fire and braised at low temperature.

Featuring a working French artisan’s kitchen serving hand-carved charcuteries, wood-fired dry-aged meats and fresh-baked sourdough breads, our menu also includes several bistro favourites and delicious desserts. To complement the menu, we have a large cellar incorporating around 250 labels.


Chef Richard Ekkebus

Born in Holland, Chef Consultant Richard Ekkebus fell in love with food as a child.  Following in the footsteps of his restaurant-owning grandparents who taught him the importance of using only the freshest produce, he is now regarded as one of the best chefs in the world.

Having trained under Michelin-starred Dutch chefs Hans Snijders and Robert Kranenborg, Ekkebus refined his techniques working with French masters such as Alain Passard, Guy Savoy and Pierre Gagnaire. From there he spent time honing his skills in Mauritius and Barbados before bringing his commitment and skill to Amber at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong in 2005. He is Chef Consultant at Fifty 8° Grill.

With a stunning dining room as its backdrop, Michelin-starred Chef Richard Ekkebus’ contemporary interpretation of French cuisine at Amber has earned numerous awards, including two Michelin stars, and No. 20 on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants List 2016, sponsored by S. Pellegrino and Acqua Panna. Using only the finest ingredients, Chef Ekkebus uses his classical training and creativity to invent dishes to excite and enthuse even the most jaded palate.
